The Eisbachwelle in Munich made a name for itself in 2025, after a surfer drowned in its cold floods. The wave was then blocked and deactivated, so to speak.

My photos are from late summer 2018. It was impressive how the surfers rode the wave, as one by one has alternated. Climb on the surf board, surf the wave, drop into the water, swim a few meters along the cold river, run back and then do it all over again.

I am not a surfer myself. But I had fun just watching and photographing the guys with my old Epson R-D1x.
