★ Cactus Infrared ★
11/04/2024
When I was at the Parque Nacional Los Cardones at the end of 2024, I brought my infrared camera, a modified Panasonic Lumix S5. In front of the lens sat a Kolari IR Chrome filter that simulates the look of the Kodak Aerochrome film.
All plant greens have thus turned into red, with sky and clouds largely retaining their natural colors. With the right post-processing, the red can be further intensified, while the stony ground gets a well-suited gray.
Ultimately, one might assume that the cacti and the bottom-up bushes were in a kind of autumnal coloration. That's not the case. They are consistently green throughout the year.
