The structures of what is now called the Duisburg‐Nord Landscape Park are truly unique. What I call structures are out-of-service blast furnaces, coking plants, refrigeration systems and what not.

It is hard to imagine what exactly was produced on this site. Sure, you can read it. Something with coke and steel. Something that got Germany up and running in the last century. But why does it all look so bizarre?

In addition to the shapes, the colors are wonderful and arranged harmoniously. The earth-connected tones dominate. From rusty brown to steel silver to moss green. Here and there, blue or yellow shimmers through.

I took the photos with a Canon EOS R5 and the (in 2024 brand new) Voigtländer 50mm f1.0 for Canon RF.
